The Chinese smartphone maker Lenovo has released five new smartphones to its IdeaPhone Android smartphones range.
The year 2012 saw stiff competition in the smartphone arena and it seems that the competition in 2013 will intesify as more and more companies are launching their smartphones.
Lenovo's latest smartphones have been divided into categories to suit specific target customers. Its S series are consumer devices, designed for multimedia and entertainment, the P series is aimed at professionals, and the A series is for customers looking for pocket-friendly devices.
"For smartphone users, one size does not fit all. We've learned from our customers, and we know they have many different, unique reasons for selecting Lenovo smartphones. Our new portfolio, features devices designed to please and amaze a wide range of customers globally, with a phone for every user," said Liu Jun, president MIDH and SVP Lenovo Group.
Let's take a peek at the five new smartphones that are on offer from Lenovo.
S Series
The S890 is the company's flagship device and sports a 5-inch qHD display with 960 x 540 pixel resolution. The smartphone is equipped with an 8-megapixel auto-flash rear-camera. The smartphone is only 0.36-inch thick and weighs 6.2 ounces.
The S720 features a 4.5-inch 960 x 540 IPS display. The smartphone also sports an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 1-megapixel front-facing camera. A 2000mAh battery fuels the smartphone and the handset is only 0.39-inch thick.
P Series
The P770 is targeted at business users and has antivirus and security software for secured file and data sharing. Its USP is a 3500mAh battery which delivers up to 30 hours talk time. Furthermore, with USB on-the-go, the P770 can even serve as a charger for other devices.
The P800 is an entry-level Android smartphone with a dual-core 1.2GHz chip and a 4.5-inch FWVGA display with 480 x 854 pixels resolution. The device has a 2000mAh battery. The handset will target first-time smartphone buyers.
A Series
The A690 offering from Lnovo has a 4-inch WVGA display with 800 x 480 pixels resolution. A 1GHz processor powers the handset. The entry-level handset will aim to attract customers looking for a pocket-friendly device.
All the Lenovo phones are dual-SIM. All the smartphones will be launched initially in China and make tehir way to select global markets Jan. 2013 onwards.
