Rumors of a bigger iPhone have been flying thick and fast in the smartphone space and suggest that a bigger iPhone, codenamed iPhone Math, may not make its appearance until 2014 or even later.
We don't know when a bigger iPhone will make its appearance, if at all, but till then we have to whet our appetites with concept images and videos that are surfacing online.
A Russian Web site, Appledigger, has posted a concept video of a bigger 4.8-inch iPhone, which seems very similar to the current iPhone 5.
The bigger iPhone 5 is named iPhone Math in the video and sports a 4.8-inch display. Due to the increase in screen size, the display of the iPhone has also accommodated a sixth row in the home screen. Along with the traditional black and white variants of the smartphone, the video also shows the bigger iPhone in other avatars like cyan, green, and pink.
The concept video highlights that the iPhone Math will have a 12-megapixel front-facing camera, compared to the 8-megapixel primary iSight camera of the iPhone 5.
Currently, many Android-based smartphones are available with a 4-inch-plus or even 5-inch display. As smartphones continue to evolve as infotainment devices, consumers are more inclined to buy a handset with a bigger screen.
Apple released the iPhone 5 with a 4-inch display that is bigger than any of its previous iterations. However, with the trends in the smartphone market shifting towards a bigger display, it seems natural that Apple will follow suit sooner or later and launch a bigger iPhone.
Rumors indicate that Apple is expected to organize a launch event in March where a new iPhone will be revealed. We will have to wait and see if a bigger iPhone is revealed as early as March this year or if we have to wait longer.
Till then, check out the iPhone Math in action in the concept video below.
