As the recently announced 128GB variant of iPad 4 continues to make headlines, major mobile carriers Verizon, Sprint and AT&T have confirmed that they will carry the cellular variant of the new high-capacity Apple tablet.
Both Verizon and AT&T have confirmed it to Mac Rumors that they will carry the Wi-Fi and cellular models of the iPad while Sprint confirmed to iMore that it will carry the new model.
AT&T's confirmation of the arrival of 128GB variant of the iPad to its network is particularly noteworthy as the carrier offers $100 off tablets purchased with a two-year data contract through Feb. 14.
"Sprint is delighted to confirm that we will be offering our customers additional iPad options with the new 128GB iPad with Retina display," Fared Adib, senior vice president of Product Development at Sprint said to iMore.
It is expected that all the LTE carriers who received the Apple support with the recent iOS 6.1 update as well as other normal iPad sales channels will carry the new version of iPad on the launch day. It seems you are going to have a lot of options to buy a 128 GB iPad on Feb. 5.
Apple announced the 128 GB version of the fourth generation iPad with Retina display, quietly on Jan. 29 through a press release.
"The 128GB iPad with Wi-Fi and iPad with Wi-Fi + Cellular models provide twice the storage capacity of the 64GB models to hold even more valuable content including photos, documents, projects, presentations, books, movies, TV shows, music and apps," Apple said.
The new line of iPads will be available in black or white for a suggested retail price of $799 (US) for the iPad with Wi-Fi model and $929 (US) for the iPad with Wi-Fi + Cellular model.
The fourth-generation iPad runs on the new iOS 6.1 operating system and features a 9.7-inch Retina display, Apple-designed A6X chip, and the FaceTime HD camera. The press note also claims that iPad runs over 800,000 apps available on the App Store of which more than 300,000 apps are designed specifically for iPad. The Apple tablet also supports more than 5,000 newspapers and magazines offered in Newsstand, and more than 1.5 million books available on the iBookstore.
