Sony recently launched its flagship smartphone for 2013, the Xperia Z, and now, per reports, its predecessor - the Xperia T - is getting the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update.
The software update is being pushed out one week after the alpha version was released for developers, and just a day after it surfaced on the PTCRB Web site and was certified.
"The Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean firmware update has started to roll out for the Sony Xperia T (LT30p), just a day after we saw it hit the PTCRB website. The firmware is the same that was certified i.e. version number 9.1.A.0.489 and runs on the 3.4.0 kernel. We're not sure exactly which regions have the update, but it appears to be live in the Netherlands at least," noted an Xperia Blog report.
The software upgrade from Android 4.0 Ice Cream sandwich to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean will be welcomed by Sony fans who have long awaited the update. Per reports, the software upgrade is currently rolling out in only a few countries. Users in Germany, The Netherlands, and Saudia Arabia have already started receiving the update.
The Jelly Bean update brings several new features and enhancements to the Xperia T, including improved camera app, lock screen, Google Now, and smoother performance courtesy Project Butter.
According to a Phone Arena report "users reported updating via Sony's PC Companion app." The update, it seems, is rolling out in phases and is expected to make its way to other regions apart from Germany and The Netherlands soon.
