Verizon may have stopped selling the Galaxy Nexus 4G LTE, but if you're still looking for one and want to get it at a low, no-contract price, it's yours to be had.

The Verizon Galaxy Nexus 4G LTE was the first and last Nexus device Google partnered with Verizon on. The Galaxy Nexus 4G LTE was never treated like a Nexus by Verizon.

Nexus devices ship with stock Android and receive OTA updates from Google when it releases an updated version of Android. However, though Google released Android 4.1 Jelly Bean in June, it took Verizon until the end of September to approve and release the OTA update. This is probably why the Galaxy Nexus 4G LTE might be the first and last Nexus device on the carrier's network. Verizon also put the device out to pasture a few days ago.

A site called Ice Monkey is currently selling "recertified" Verizon Galaxy Nexus 4G LTE smartphones for $219.99 with free shipping and no contract. Here's a rundown of the specs of one of my all-time favorite smartphones:

Product Features:

  • 2G Network: CDMA 800 / 1900
  • 3G Network: CDMA2000 1xEV-DO
  • 4G Network: LTE 700 MHz Class 13

  • Display Size: 720 x 1280 pixels, 4.65 inches (~316 ppi pixel density)

This is a pretty good deal for a device like the Galaxy Nexus and best of all, you won't have to sign a new contract with Verizon in order to get it.
