The Samsung Galaxy S4 is one of the most-anticipated smartphones for 2013 and rumors surrounding the smartphone are fast gaining traction. The latest rumor suggests that the upcoming Galaxy S4 may have touchless gestures for navigation.
Touchless gesture-enabled devices have infrared proximity sensors on the gadget and enable users to use certain actions by using gestures, without having physical contact with the gadget.
"Samsung has selected Atmel's new maXTouch Series Touch for Samsung Galaxy SIV, which will provide superior performance with less power consumption. With this technology, instead of reaching over to touch screen, you can operate the phone with gesture controls. Now with wave like sweeps on phone display you can answer the calls, switch to another songs," reported TechKiddy.
This touchless gestures technology uses thin sensing electrodes like Indium Tin Oxide (ITO), which enables invisible integration behind the device's housing.
The technology may soon be on its way and smartphones enthusiasts may see it being deployed in the Galaxy S4. The technology may be useful for many smartphone users when they are unable to make physical contact with the handset.
Galaxy S4 won't be the first smartphone to have touchless gestures. Currently, Pantech Vega LTE sports gesture control. The smartphone uses the front camera and consumes a lot of battery. However rumors indicate that Samsung's solution to touchless gestures will be power efficient.
The notion of the Galaxy S4 having touchless gesture technology sounds very impressive, but we will have to wait and see if Samsung eventually uses the technology in the handset or gives it a miss.
