The 5-inch smartphone from Sony, Sony Xperia Z, is now available in European markets like France, and guess what, a root is already available.
If you are thinking that the root was developed by some developer sitting in European country where the device is now available, you are completely wrong. The hack was developed by an Android developer sitting in India where the smartphone is yet to be released.
DoomLord of XDA Developers used an app called TeamViewer to attempt the rooting remotely. With the help of Chainfire's Auto-root available for Nexus 4, DoomLord easily cracked the Xperia Z.
"XDA Recognized Developer DooMLoRD took the Nexus 4 version of CF-Auto-Root, modified it a bit, did a dance to the rooting gods, and crossed his fingers. Using TeamViewer, which we've reviewed in the past, to remotely attempt rooting, he was successful. Thanks to Chainfire's app and DooMLoRD's dancing, the Sony Xperia Z now has root," XDA Developers blog stated.
To root Sony Xperia Z you need to be on firmware version 10.1.A.1.350 with your bootloader unlocked.
Though the root is tested and looks perfectly fine as it comes from trusted developers, you should go easy with this as the device is very new in the market.
Being new in the market, Sony Xperia Z doesn't have enough recovery tools in case your rooting goes wrong, at the same time you will never like to void the warranty of your newly bought smartphone.
Meanwhile, reports indicate towards the new device getting an Android update by next month.
According to an Xperia Blog report the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update will be rolled out for Xperia Z by Sony in Europian market by the end of March.
The blog posted a leaked screenshot of Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update for the Sony Xperia Z (C6603).
If Sony manages to rollout the Jelly Bean update in March for its Xperia Z users, it will be a nice move as users will always be happy to get a software update as early as possible.
