The Motorola X, as it seems, will continue to be in the state of heavy rumors until something happens at the Google I/O, or earlier. Now with the eventual release of the S4, it won’t be surprising if all the focus shifts to the X phone automatically, and there’s information now that might just lead to that change of focus.
The highly anticipated and heavily rumored Motorola X phone, as newly rumored, could give customers more control than ever before with the option of choosing just how the hardware of their new phones is configured, according to reports.
The information was revealed via tech Web site Android and Me, and it was stated that customers will be able to customize their device according to their wishes. The users will have the option to choose the color of the device and even configure some of the hardware specifications like RAM and internal storage, with Motorola guaranteeing that the custom device will be delivered in just a week.
“This could be the WOW feature that Google was hinting at earlier this year. Google previously allowed some level of customizations with their Nexus One (you could engrave the back), but this is taking things to a new level,” Android and Me writes.
“Most OEMs already let you choose the level of internal storage, but we think it would be awesome to have the ability to change around other hardware specs. This would allow consumers to essentially build their own phone, similar to how Dell or other companies let you build a PC.”
As of now, the rumors further claim that Motorola X will be more of a brand than a single phone, and that the first X model will be out in June as an octo-core handset. Not only is this a good news for anyone looking forward to the device, but that also gives credibility to the fact that fans might hear it announced at Google I/O in May.
As far as the first X phone becoming an octo-core handset with a full core dedicated to Motorola’s new human language system is concerned, the report adds: “Quite a few semiconductor companies are working on octo-core chips, so that’s no big surprise. Qualcomm has been demoing a new voice activation feature on their Snapdragon 800 that allows users to wake up their device with a voice command.”
“The Snapdragon 800 is coming in the second half of the year, but it’s only a quad-core CPU, so maybe our source has the number of cores wrong.”
