Deep Silver and Volition just announced "Saints Row IV" is coming to current-generation consoles and PC on Aug. 20 in North America and Aug. 23 everywhere else.
Saints Row IV will come as the first game in the franchise Deep Silver will publish, not THQ. The concept behind the game revolves around an alien invasion and the story picks up where "Saints Row: The Third" left off. The boss of the Third Street Saints is now the President of the United States of America, but aliens show up and everything changes.
The invading aliens capture the Saints and transport them into a bizarre simulation of their Steelport home town. As one can imagine, everything goes all Matrix. The Saints develop crazy super powers and fight to free humanity from the mental grasp of the "alien granddaddy" Zinyak.
"Escape the simulation that's trapped the Saints crew, or die trying," Deep Silver Volition touts in a statement to the media. "Saints Row IV lets players delve into an arsenal of alien weaponry and technology that will turn each Saint into an ultimate entity of destruction. Utilize out-of-this-world superpowers to fight all the way to the top. With intensified action and enhanced customization, players can use their newfound superpowers and leap over buildings, outrun the fastest spots cars, or send enemies flying with telekinesis in the greatest, most insane installment of Saints Row yet."
As previously mentioned, Saints Row IV will launch on Aug. 20 in North America and hit worldwide availability on Aug. 23. It will work on current-generation consoles and PC, but not on the Wii U. Check out the teaser video (may contain inappropriate content for children) for more details and a taste of the next Saints Row installment.
