One of the top applications that was missing from the Windows Phone 8 store is finally available. Pandora is now up for download on devices running Microsoft's latest smartphone operating system, and guess what? It's free.
The developer behind Pandora launched the application on Thursday to much fanfare. Things got a bit more interesting when it was announced the application will be free of ads for the rest of the year. This could very well be one of the biggest incentives to use Pandora on Windows Phone, and it might just pay off.
Pandora has been one of the main applications missing from the store, so it is also one of the reasons some smartphone users are more likely to switch to Windows Phone, now that they have one less reason for not doing so.
So, what is Pandora all about? It's a free personalized radio application that allows users to play music via selections. It's quite a popular application on Android and iOS, and one of the top apps users wanted to see available on the Windows Phone 8 platform.
The Windows Phone 8 version of Pandora looks visually different when compared to other versions on iOS or Android. For example, it follows the Windows Phone design style, with Tiles everywhere and a live Tile icon on the home screen. The live Tile allows a user to see what Pandora is currently playing without having to open the application
"Designing for Windows Phone 8 while keeping our consistent 'Pandora' aesthetic was an exciting challenge and we're thrilled with the results," says Pandora blog.
Moreover, users can launch Pandora from the Kids Corner section on Windows Phone 8, allowing children to tune into music that doesn't contain explicit lyrics.
If interested, you can download the application right here for your favorite Windows Phone 8 device.
