Shailesh Shrivastava

It's been a week since Apple released the iOS 6.1.3 update for iPhone, iPads and iPods; and finally we decided to give a check to the performance of the latest update of Apple's mobile operating system.

Apple released the iOS 6.1.3 for fixing the passcode or lockscreen bug that appeared in a YouTube video last month. According to the users of iPhones, iPads and iPods who updated their devices to iOS 6.1.3 confirm that the lockscreen bug is now been removed.

The Cupertino company successfully patches the security issues in its operating system, however there are many issue that come up with the release of iOS 6.1.3.

Every time Apple releases any iOS update, some problems pop up without fail. Issues related to battery performance and connectivity are the most common issues Apple users face after updating their devices.

With the release of iOS 6.1.3 users have once again started complaining about the sudden battery drain and network drop issues.

Many users have gone to the users' forum on Apple's official website and started posting the issues related to the iOS 6.1.3.

"I have noticed that since the update, my iPad is draining battery at a crazy rate! I left for work today with it fully charged and have not used it all day. (Screen off and in standby mode) and I am down to 80%. That has never happened in the nearly 2 years that I have owned this machine," an iPad user posted on Apple's support forum.

There are more queries like this on the support forum, but the problem is related to the applications and the usage of the applications in the device. There is nothing that iOS 6.1.3 could do in it.

If you are one of those struggling with rapid battery drain after updating your device to iOS 6.1.3 you can try these simple steps posted by Lawrence Finch to overcome the problem.

1: Go to Settings/Mail,Contacts,Calendar, tap on the Exchange account and turn off all of the switches.

2: Reboot the phone by holding Home and Sleep until an Apple appears.

3: Go back to Settings and turn the switches back on.
4: Wait for an hour for mail, contacts, calendar to sync

5: Check the battery again.

You can also solve the problem of excessive data usage by performing the same steps if the problem is occurring due to any hidden application use.
