Users of many Samsung smartphones are waiting for Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update, and there is no news about the update's release. However, there is some information about the release of Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean for Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 devices.
A reliable source of information about Samsung has tweeted that the update might come to the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 devices somewhere in May or June this year.
"Android 4.2.2 updates Galaxy S III and Note II May/June," SamMobile tweeted on its official Twitter page.
The piece of information comes at the time when talks about the release of Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie are on.
If the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update comes in May or June for Samsung Galaxy S3 devices, the update will be the last Android update for some of the Galaxy S3 smartphones. Earlier, there were reports that all the Galaxy S3 devices will be updated to Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie, but later it was reported that Key Lime Pie will support the devices running on quad-core processors only.
Samsung had released two versions of Galaxy S3, one powered by Qualcomm's dual core processor clocked at 1.5 GHz and the other one powered with Samsung's own Exynos 4 quad core processor.
The Galaxy S3 with the dual core processor was launched only in the U.S. and for the rest of the world the smartphone with the quad core processor was launched.
As far as Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is concerned, it will definitely get the Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie, as it is powered by the Exynos 4 quad core processor clocked at 1.6 GHz.
Meanwhile, Samsung has started rolling out Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus owners in Austria are the first ones to get the update and the firmware will soon be updated in other countries too.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus was launched running Android 3.2 Honeycomb out of the box and later was updated to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update is going to be the third Android update for the tablet, but this is probably the last update as Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean (if rolled out for the device) is going to be the last update for Android devices running on dual core processors.
According to SamMobile these are the details of the firmware:
Android 4.1.2
Build Date: March 25
Changlog list: 7086701
PDA: P6200XXMC3
CSC: P6200OXAMC3
