Sony has already released its flagship device Sony Xperia Z and it is also going to release some new Android-based smartphones pretty soon. On the other hand, Sony is also making the world go around it for its gaming consoles, PlayStations and the DualShock controllers.
Imagine if you can, playing games on PlayStation Mobile with a DualShock 3 controller. If you own an Xperia smartphone, then your dream is soon going to come true, as Sony's new device Xperia SP lets you connect the DualShock 3 controller to it via Bluetooth and you can enjoy playing games on your smartphone with a great controller.
Right now the function seems to be available only in the Xperia SP devices, but it is believed that the DualShock 3 compatibility will soon be available in all the devices of the Xperia series.
The settings section of the Xperia SP has a new option, "DualShock 3 Controller." The controller will be connected to the smartphone via Bluetooth, but to initiate the connection you will have to connect the controller to the phone with a USB cable. Once the connection is initiated you can remove the cable and then everything happens via Bluetooth.
It will be little inconvenient for people to carry a big DualShock 3 controller with them along with a big smartphone, but for gaming freaks nothing is impossible. As the size of the smartphones is increasing, the trend of connecting gaming controllers and joysticks will be seen more often.
Until now, companies were not giving this kind of option with the devices but people were still enjoying the connectivity by jailbreaking or rooting their devices.
Once the connectivity option becomes available for other smartphones like Sony Xperia Z and Xperia ZL, Sony will score one more point in the market as people who already have PS3 and the DualShock 3 controller will definitely prefer Sony's smartphones over any other smartphone.
