After hearing rumored specs of the Samsung Galaxy Win last week, Samsung itself is now offering some official details about the upcoming smartphone.
On the other hand, although Samsung's details include a full set of specs for the mid-range Galaxy Win smartphone, some of the key points are still shrouded in mystery. In other words, Samsung did detail the specs, but said nothing about price and release date, not to mention which markets will be able to enjoy the new handset.
The only hint regarding the smartphone's availability is Samsung's clue that the Galaxy Win will be available in "markets," as in more than one. The handset will be available in two versions, one single-SIM and the other dual-SIM, and the availability of each version will depend on the market. U.S. consumers, for instance, are not big fans of dual-SIM, so if the smartphone reaches the U.S. it will most likely be in a single-SIM version. Otherwise, the Samsung Galaxy Win will ship in two different color options — Ceramic White and Titan Gray.
Moving on to specs, the Samsung Galaxy Win will sport a 4.7-inch WVGA display with a modest 800 x 480 resolution, a quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage and a micro SD card slot for additional memory. The handset also packs a 5-megapixel rear camera and a VGA front camera, a 2,000mAh battery, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, as well as the usual set of sensors such as an accelerometer. In terms of operating system, the Galaxy Win will run on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
According to Samsung, the Galaxy Win will also have a "simple and intuitive homescreen mode" called the "Easy Mode," which allows users to more easily access the most used functions. Smart Alert is also on board, providing alerts for missed items when picking up the phone. Motion UX, meanwhile, allows users to easily control functions such as Refresh, Update and Mute with motion controls.
In conclusion, the Samsung Galaxy Win smartphone is now official, but with no pricing details or release date for now. Samsung, care to fill in the blanks?
