Owners of the HTC One X+ smartphone are in for some good news, as AT&T is rolling out an update with several bug fixes and improvements.
While the new HTC One flagship seems to be getting all the glory now and anticipation keeps building until the handset finally hits AT&T store shelves, the older generation is not forgotten.
Users rocking the last generation HTC smartphone are not getting the expected update to Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, but they will receive various improvements and bug fixes nonetheless. AT&T confirmed that the Tegra 3-packed HTC One X+ is getting a number of goodies and started rolling out the update about a week ago, on April 12, but it has yet to reach all devices.
Although the update started rolling out a few days ago, reports from users who got the update are just coming in. It may not be the latest Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, but this update will improve a few things and fix multiple annoying bugs that were marring the smartphone.
According to the HTC Support page, where users can also find the update file available for download, HTC One X+ users will receive fixes for Wi-Fi connectivity issues and drops, Bluetooth improvements, fixes to AT&T's address book app, enhanced battery performance, as well as other various fixes. As usual, the update announcement touts performance enhancements, but doesn't mention exactly what is enhanced.
HTC One X+ owners can either wait for the notification prompting them to download and install the update over-the-air (OTA) or check for the update themselves. To do so, go to the phone's Settings > AT&T Software updates > Check for Updates.
As an alternative solution, users can also download the system update to a PC and manually apply it to the HTC One X. To do so, check out the instructions on AT&T's aforementioned support page.
As usual with system updates, make sure the device has at least 80 percent battery life and has a strong connection. The smartphone will reboot several times during the update process and show software upgrade screens. Don't power the device off at any time during this process, otherwise the update may stop and render the device inoperable. With this latest upgrade out of the bag, now all the HTC One X+ needs is Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and HTC Sense 5 UI to be all set.
