Much to the surprise of almost everybody, Apple has released the fifth version of iOS 6 as the latest update, iOS 6.1.4. However, the firmware update will be available only for iPhone 5.
The update has been rolled out at the time when the users of Apple's mobile devices such as iPhone, iPod and iPad were looking forward to see an all-new iOS 7.
The latest update, iOS 6.1.4, is not a big update and brings some minor fixes for some of the issues related to the performance of iPhone 5. The firmware is said to be rolled out to fix only the audio profile for the speakerphones of the iPhone 5.
Apple has been struggling with many issues since the launch of iOS 6 and has yet to make the firmware problem-free for its users.
The Cupertino-based company rolled out the iOS 6.1.3 after much outcry from its users in March because of a lockscreen bug and rapid battery drain. The firmware update fixed the bug successfully but failed to fix the battery drain issue.
The battery drain and connectivity-related issues like Wi-Fi, mobile network and Bluetooth had been some of the integral parts of iOS-related problems. Every time Apple releases a new version of iOS, these issues frequently surround the new firmware update.
After the launch of iOS 6.1.4 as well, users of iPhone 5 are not satisfied with the performance of the new OS. Many users, once again, took to the support forum on Apple's official website to post their views and problems.
"You need to fix the dame battery drain issue, most importantly!!! Who cares about the speakerphone, that's our least concern," a user posted.
"Apple you need to archive iOS 7 as the battery life on iOS 6.1.4 is dropping and drainage is already found please will you have time to insert the serious problems like the speakerphone and battery drainage also streetview on maps," another user posted.
Many users find this update a minor one and are thinking of not updating their device until the iOS 7 is released. iOS 7 is expected to be annonced at the WWDC in June.
