Facebook Home is the latest move by Facebook to the conquer mobile, but it doesn't seem as if that plan is working out too well at the moment. The first and only device that launched with Facebook Home, the HTC First, is not doing very well at retail, and now we're hearing that Facebook Home only managed to be downloaded nearly 1 million times.
To some, that's an incredible achievement, what could possibly be better than a launcher app being downloaded a million times. However, before you go saying Facebook Home is a success, please consider that the social network has over 1 billion registered users, according to Engadget, so if only 1 million of that tally has downloaded Facebook Home, where do you smell the success? There are some positives from this though.
Cory Ondrejka, Director of Mobile Engineering at Facebook, claims the Facebook Home launcher has managed to get users to use the social network more. There's around 25 percent greater engagement once Facebook Home is installed, but how long does that last, has not been mentioned. It is clear that Facebook will have to work hard if it wants to get Home into the hands of millions more, as version 1.0 is a total disaster.
