U.S. prepaid carrier Cricket Wireless finally started taking pre-orders for the new Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphone, listing a June 7 shipping date.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 is the newest flagship smartphone from the South Korean tech giant and it landed on just about every U.S. carrier already. Cricket now joins the party and is now taking pre-orders for the handset.
According to Android Police, Cricket is currently offering the Samsung Galaxy S4 for a $599.99 price tag, but pre-ordering the smartphone online now will bring some attractive discounts.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 from Cricket Wireless comes with a $50 instant discount and $20 web discount, as well as a $55 discount for the mail-in offer. Overall, these offers will reduce the total price of the smartphone by $125, bringing down the final price to $474.99. Cricket is also throwing in a free matching flip cover as a bonus.
The monthly fees, meanwhile, seem decent enough. One of Cricket's plans for the Samsung Galaxy S4 entails a $50 monthly fee, which will come with a 1GB of data allowance. A $60 plan will provide a 2.5GB of data.
Customers who pre-order the high-end smartphone from Sprint will get their brand new Samsung Galaxy S4 soon enough. The carrier lists the high-end smartphone with a June 7 shipping date, which is less than a week away.
Cricket Wireless is a pre-paid carrier that partially operates as a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) on the networks that Sprint, MetroPCS and others run. The company also has its own CDMA towers on 1.7GHz and 1.9GHz in various locations.
On the other hand, it's important to note that Cricket's new lines are not active in some markets, while in others the Samsung Galaxy S4 is not even available. Consequently, before pre-ordering the Galaxy S4 from Cricket it might be a good idea to check whether you're eligible for the carrier's offer. To do so, just visit Cricket's official site and submit your zip code in the "View pricing & availability" section.
The carrier offers the Samsung Galaxy S4 in both white and black color options and notes that a 4G LTE plan is required for this phone.
