Apple is no longer on top of its game mainly due to the company's inability to keep up with Samsung and its Galaxy line of smartphones, but that is not slowing down its growth. A new reports claim Apple is adding at least 500,000 new accounts to iTunes each day. That's an impressive number, one that could prove Apple is still garnering fans and is capable of doing great things despite current setbacks.
During the recently held Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC 2013), Apple announced that its iTunes store has over 575 million active accounts. A few days later, Asymco's Horace Dediureported on how much an Apple user is worth. By looking into Apple's previous milestones all the way back to 2009, Dediu confirmed that Apple is adding about 500,000 new iTunes accounts per day. If this turns out to legitimate, Apple could very well be underway for a runway success with its new iTunes Radio streaming services.
Apple iTunes is the most popular destination on the Internet to purchase music; however, sales have been stagnant over the years due to the advancement of Amazon MP3 and other services. Things are so bad that iTunes is actually losing market share, but with iTunes Radio, things could turn out relatively well for Apple in the long run.
iTunes Radio is expected to allow music listeners to tune into streaming music similar in style to Pandora and Spotify. Furthermore, users will have the option to purchase music from iTunes via the service, and this feature could potentially boost music sales on iTunes along with regaining lost market share for Apple. In addition, the new service could draw music listeners and buyers away from Amazon MP3 by providing streaming music with better access to iTunes and ease of use on iOS 7 devices along with PCs and Apple TV.
Competition in the music streaming sector is stiff and Apple could likely a face an uphill task because while the likes of Pandora and Spotify are available on multiple platforms, iTunes Radio will only be available for iO7 devices, and iTunes is only available on Apple products and PCs.
