Rumors of an upcoming budget version of the popular iPhone have been making rounds for some time and now a massive gallery of images has popped up online.
Apple is widely expected to release a more affordable iPhone sometime next month. Amid lots of predictions, rumors and speculation, a huge gallery of images now show the purported back housing of the rumored "iPhone 5C," as the budget Apple smartphone has been dubbed.
Keep in mind that these images come from a person named Sonny Dickinson, who has no reputation or track record when it comes to such leaks. His name rings no bell other than sharing the same last name with Iron Maiden's famous Bruce. While notorious tipsters such as @evleaks have some credibility due to their good track record, this Sonny Dickinson character came out of nowhere and dumped this cool gallery that may or may not prove to be real.
That said, keep a healthy dose of skepticism in handy and proceed to pretend. Let's pretend for now that these images are real and they do show the upcoming budget version of the iPhone. That they are real photos of an actual Apple product that is yet to be announced, but somehow slipped the company's tight grips and ended up in Dickinson's back pocket. It may not be likely, but give it a shot.
The new images seem to show a plastic build instead of the anodized metal Apple used so far in its iPhones. This would fall in line with previous rumors and would make sense, considering that the purported handset should cater to the more budget-conscious. Plastic is cheaper.
The purported iPhone 5C's body seems to have more rounded edges compared to the iPhone 5, but the overall design does not differ much. The photos show the headphone jack, lightning port and speakers are on the bottom of the device just like on the iPhone 5, which again falls in line with previous rumors.
Returning to the real world and the aforementioned dose of skepticism, don't believe anything you see or hear. Apple has yet to officially announce a budget iPhone, so this is all in the rumor state for now. On the other hand, it would be great if these images turned out to be the real deal.
