Rogers Canada is reportedly getting Moto X stock this weekend, but initial supplies will be limited, according to a new report.
The Moto X has been one of the most anticipated smartphones of this year, as it is the first device to launch from Google and Motorola since the search giant acquired the company. The handset also sports advanced customization options that no other device or company currently offers.
After news broke out a few days ago that the Moto X is headed to Canada soon, MobileSyrup now claims to have received an internal Rogers document revealing that the carrier will start receiving Moto X stock on Friday, Aug. 16.
It remains unclear at this point, however, whether Rogers will start selling the Moto X in the following days or whether the document simply aims to notify employees of incoming stock.
"The Moto X has begun to ship to select Rogers locations in limited quantities," states the document obtained by MobileSyrup. "If an existing customer is unable to locate a device, please direct them to log into the Rogers Reservation System to reserve a device and it will be delivered to the Rogers location of their choosing when it's available. New customers can register for updates at www.rogers.com/motox. They'll receive an email as soon as devices become available nationwide."
Rogers will exclusively offer the new Moto X in Canada and the phone will be available for $189.99 with a two-year contract. The full price of the handset goes up to $549.99 outright. The carrier will only offer the black and white models of the Moto X, as the customizations are only available through MotoMaker and that's exclusive to AT&T for now. Other carriers are expected to get access to MotoMaker starting in November.
While Rogers will have dibs for the Moto X in Canada, the carrier is yet to announce an exact launch date for the handset. In the U.S., the Moto X will hit reportedly hit all major carriers on Aug. 23. Rogers could start selling the handset soon after, but nothing is confirmed for now. Stay tuned for more details as they become available.
