Budget iPhone 5C specs leak: dual-core processor, 8-megapixel camera, Siri & more

The iPhone 5C, also dubbed the budget iPhone, has leaked several times and now a new report details some of the smartphone's specifications.

While previous leaks showed the purported iPhone 5C in various videos and images, sporting multiple colors, little has been revealed regarding the handset's hardware specifications. A new report now aims to paint a clearer picture of what to expect from the much-rumored budget iPhone in terms of specs.

The report comes from SIM Only Radar and claims that Apple's upcoming iPhone 5C will pack a dual-core processor, will sport a 4-inch screen just like the current iPhone 5, and will have a resolution of 640 x 1136 pixels. The publication allegedly received this information from a tipster who shared a specs sheet.

The spec sheet in question further lists 1GB of RAM for the iPhone 5C, as well as 16GB, 32GB and 64GB internal storage configurations. The handset will reportedly sport an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 1.2-megapixel front-facing shooter. The smartphone would come running on iOS 7 and include Apple's popular virtual assistant, Siri, with support for English, French, German, Japanese, Chinese, Italian, Spanish and Korean, the tipster revealed.

When it comes to weight and dimensions, the iPhone 5C will reportedly measure 124.2 x 58.4 x 7.6mm and be 6 grams lighter than the current-generation iPhone 5 at 106 grams. In other words, the upcoming budget iPhone would be roughly the same size as the iPhone 5, based on this leaked spec sheet.

Previously leaked images allegedly starring the iPhone 5C showed a polycarbonate body back panel in multiple color options, including white, blue, red, yellow and green. The photos also showed a round camera lens, LED flash, lightning connector port, as well as the iPhone branding and Apple logo.

Keep in mind, however, that none of this is official and Apple has not even confirmed plans for launching a budget iPhone. Apple is expected to hold an iPhone event on Sept. 10 in San Francisco, where it will reportedly take the wraps off the next-generation iPhone 5S and the new low-cost iPhone 5C. If rumors prove to be accurate, we should see new iPhones soon enough.
