Apple has just sent out some colorful invites to a Sept. 10 event at the company's headquarters, all but confirming the rumored iPhone unveiling.
Various rumors over the past month or so indicated that Apple will unveil its new iPhones at a special event on Sept. 10, and now the company seems to have confirmed it with its new invites.
"This should brighten everyone's day," simply reads the invitation, without giving any other details.
The invite shows a white Apple logo against a background of colorful circles, seemingly bolstering rumors that the next iPhone, purportedly called the iPhone 5S, will shift away from the traditional black and white color scheme and come in several new color options alongside the existing black and white versions.
Some recent rumors and leaks claimed that at least two new colors - champagne/ gold and graphite will be available with the next-generation iPhone. Just last week Apple tipster Sonny Dickinson published an intriguing gallery of photos purportedly showing the iPhone 5S in a "gray or graphite color with black trim."
Aside from the champagne/gold and gray/silver (graphite) color options, the upcoming iPhone 5S is also expected to come with a new A7 chip, as well as a convex home button to accommodate the much-rumored fingerprint sensor.
Apple is also widely rumored to prepare for the launch of a lower-cost iPhone, dubbed the iPhone 5C. This model is expected to come in at least five multi-colored back casings including blue, yellow, red, green, and white, apparently ready to challenge Nokia's colorful Lumia range. The colored circles on Apple's invite may also be a hint to this purported budget iPhone 5C. The lower-cost model will reportedly sport a plastic casing in order to reduce costs and come with a price tag of roughly $399 off-contract.
The company has yet to officially confirm its iPhone plans for this year, but the new invites for the Sept. 10 event do bring us a little closer to the big unveiling. With less than a week to go, Apple will soon shed light on the matter and make things official. The new iPhones are expected to go on sale 10 days after the unveiling, i.e. on Friday, Sept. 20.
