Motorola's new flagship smartphone, the Moto X, is now available on Sprint as well, as the carrier has just added the handset to its lineup.
The Moto X is one of the most anticipated smartphones of this year not only because it's the first handset from Motorola since Google acquired the company, but also because it brings some unique features and functionality. Google's fingerprint is all over this smartphone and although it isn't a high-end device, the Moto X stirred quite some waves upon its launch.
Sprint has announced that it is now offering the Moto X for $199.99 on a new two-year contract. To sweeten the deal and up competition, however, the carrier is offering the Moto X for just $99 (excluding taxes) if you switch to its network from another carrier and port your number. This offer is limited.
"Moto X is the first smartphone that can respond to your specific needs with features like Touchless Control, Active Display and Quick Capture," boasts David Owens, Sprint's Vice President of Product Development. "We expect customers to quickly become hooked on Touchless Control because of its ease and convenience for everyday tasks like locating the nearest gas station, ordering a pizza or searching the Web for sports updates. Sprint ensures that our customers can use Moto X to its fullest potential without having to worry about overage fees or their wireless bill."
The Motorola Moto X was developed in close collaboration with Google and aims to raise the bar in the mid- to higher-end category. It sports a 4.7-inch HD AMOLED display with a 1280p resolution, packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor and 2GB of RAM under the hood, and comes with a 2,200 mAh battery. The smartphone has 16GB of internal storage and runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.
One of the most-touted aspects of the Moto X, however, consists of the smartphone's advanced customization features, but those will not be available through Sprint. The carrier is only offering the Woven Black and Woven White models for now, which may be a drawback to some.
Sprint customers who are not set on designing their own Moto X smartphone, meanwhile, can now order the 16GB Moto X at Sprint Stores, Business Sales, Web Sales and Telesales (1-800-SPRINT1).
