Nokia doesn't seem too concerned about Apple's new iPhone 5C and mocks the iCompany's efforts, suggesting that it copied its Lumia line of smartphones.
From the moment that rumors started to emerge that Apple was working on a lower-cost iPhone that would be available in a variety of colors, everyone started associating such a concept with Nokia's colorful range of Lumia smartphones.
The much-awaited Sept. 10 iPhone event finally dawned and Apple, as expected, introduced its latest iPhone 5S flagship alongside the much-rumored lower-cost iPhone 5C.
The lower-cost iPhone is almost everything rumors said it would be. It ditches the premium material for a plastic body to allow for a lower price, and it does indeed come in five color options: white, pink, blue, yellow, and green.
Observers weren't the only ones associating the iPhone 5C's color range with Nokia's Lumia smartphones. Nokia itself took a jab at Apple, mocking the company's so-called budget smartphone for taking inspiration from the Windows Phone-powered Lumias.
"Imitation is the best form of flattery," boasted Nokia UK in an image posted on Tuesday, Sept. 10, on both its Facebook and Twitter pages. "Thanks, Apple."
Nokia's teasing and amusing post leaves little room for interpretation. The company is acknowledging the new iPhone 5C and wants to show that it's not afraid of a little competition. Nokia may not have the exclusive on launching colorful smartphones, but Apple's latest iPhone 5C does remind us of Nokia's Lumia range.
On the same funny, sarcastic tone, Nokia further mocked Apple for introducing a new gold color option for its latest flagship, the higher-end and more expensive iPhone 5S.
"Real gangsters don't use gold phones," teased Nokia in another image posted on its Twitter page on Tuesday, Sept. 10, the same day that Apple unveiled its new sartphones.
Apple has not responded to any of these teasers from Nokia, but observers are definitely amused. This is not the first time that Apple is mocked by rival companies, and it will certainly not be the last time.
What do you think about Apple's new iPhone 5C? Is it too similar to Nokia's Lumia range? What about the gold color option for the iPhone 5S? Let us know in the comments.
