Apple has teamed up with Burberry for an unusual demonstration: capturing Burberry's Spring/Summer 2014 runway show with the new iPhone 5S' iSight camera.
Burberry's runway show will take place on Sept. 16, and the new partnership between the two companies aims to demonstrate the improved camera capabilities of Apple's latest flagship, the newly-announced iPhone 5S. In other words, Burberry will use an iPhone 5S to shoot photos and videos of its big event.
"Apple and Burberry today announced that iPhone 5s is being used to capture and share beautiful photos and video before, during and after the Burberry runway show in London on Monday, September 16," announced the two companies. "Using the all-new iSight camera on iPhone 5s, Burberry is shooting high quality photos and video for runway and beauty looks, product details, and backstage moments. The collaboration is reimagining how Burberry engages consumers, paving the way for significant changes in how they capture and share their content."
"This collaboration celebrates our relationship and shared foundation in design and craftsmanship. We have a mutual passion for creating beautiful products and unlocking emotive experiences through technology, which has made it intensely exciting to explore the capabilities of iPhone 5S. We're inspired by what this could mean for the future as we continue to explore the merging of physical and digital experiences," added Burberry CEO Christopher Bailey.
While the iPhone 5S is mainly considered a slight bump over its predecessor, just like the iPhone 4S was with the iPhone 4, the new smartphone's camera does offer several improvements over the previous model's camera.
The iPhone 5S' camera has a bigger sensor and an f/2.2 aperture, both of which allow for a 33 percent increase in light sensitivity. This, in turn, should result in clearer shots, especially in low-light conditions. Moreover, the new iSight camera also boasts "True Tone" dual-LED flash, built-in image stabilization, as well as new camera modes.
If you're curious to see how the iPhone 5S camera handles a fashion show, you can check out Burberry's website and social media channels for samples of photos and videos. The fashion company will also be broadcasting the event on Monday, Sept. 16, at 2:30 PM GMT+1 (9:30 AM EDT, 6:30 AM PDT).
