An alleged Nexus 5 technical manual has leaked online, revealing a 4.95-inch display, Snapdragon 800, 2GB of RAM and more specs for the next-generation Google smartphone.
The LG-made Google Nexus 4 proved to be incredibly popular due to its good specs and affordable price tag. The handset was in fact so popular that Google and LG barely managed to handle the high demand and the Nexus 4 was frequently listed as sold-out as soon as new shipments hit stores.
With such a great legacy, the Nexus 5 is among the most highly-anticipated smartphones of 2013 and things are heating up as the expected launch draws closer and excitement builds up.
The rumor mill continues to churn at full speed and after a steady stream of leaks regarding the purported Nexus 5, a newly-leaked manual now provides more details about the smartphone's specs.
An anonymous user posted on Scribd what is allegedly the service manual for the LG-D821, which is most likely the model number of the next-generation Nexus smartphone. The document mostly consists of diagrams and technical info, but there are also several details that seem to confirm some previously-rumored specs. The manual also comes with full-body imagesof the upcoming handset.
The document is quite comprehensive at 281 pages, but some of the highlights include high-end specs such as the latest Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.3GHz and paired with 2GB of RAM. It also reveals that the Nexus 5 would sport a 4.95-inch full HD IPS display, an 8-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 1.3-megapixel front-facing shooter and a powerful 2,300 mAh battery. The smartphone will reportedly be available in 16GB and 32GB internal storage configurations.
The purported Nexus 5 would also sport NFC, UMTS/GSM/CDMA/LTE compatibility, slimport compatibility, as well as an array of sensors such as accelerometer, gyroscope, compass, ambient light sensor, pressure, and proximity sensor.
The document is reportedly still a draft for now, which might explain why the purported Nexus 5 is listed as having Bluetooth 3.0 support and not Bluetooth 4.0 and Bluetooth LE. Even so, this latest leak is the most detailed one so far.
The full-body images of the alleged Nexus 5 show some design cues from the new Nexus 7 (2013). The Nexus logo appears horizontal on the device and the photos also confirm LG as the manufacturer for the next-generation Nexus smartphone.
The leaked technical manual seems to be legitimate, but it's always advisable to take all leaks, rumors and speculations with a grain of salt, particularly since this is a draft and is likely subject to (some) change. If Google's previous launch schedules are anything to go by, however, the new Nexus 5 should make its official debut soon enough.
