Amazon unveiled its new Kindle Fire HDX tablets last month and now the slates have gone on sale in Canada and up for pre-order in the UK.
The new-generation Kindle Fire HDX are far stronger than their predecessors, first of all due to the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor they pack under the hood. The tablets also have 2GB of RAM and come in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB internal storage configurations.
The only thing that sets the two Kindle Fire HDX tablets apart from each other is the screen size, as one of them has a 7-inch display while the other sports a larger 8.9-inch screen. Both slates come to replace the existing generation of Amazon Kindle slates and boast notable improvements over their predecessors.
Amazon Kindle Fire HDX pricing and availability in Canada
While Canada had to wait about nine months to get the last-generation Amazon Kindle tablets, this time the launch is much prompter. The new Kindle Fire HDX slates are already available in the country from Amazon's Canadian website.
The 7-inch model starts at C$254 for the 16GB configuration and the 8.9-inch version goes up to C$399 for the 16GB model. The revamped Kindle Fire HD is available in the country as well, with a C$149 starting price.
Amazon Kindle Fire HDX pricing and availability in the UK
If Canadian tablet shoppers can already get their hands on the new Kindle Fire HDX tablets, interested buyers in the UK will have to wait a little while longer. The slates have now gone up for pre-order in the UK ahead of their commercial launch next month, on Nov. 13.
The 7-inch model will start at £199 for the 16GB version, while the 8.9-inch 16GB model will cost £329. With pre-orders now open on the Amazon UK website, early buyers can make sure they get their desired Kindle Fire HDX on launch day.
U.S. availability
Interested buyers in the U.S., meanwhile, can find the 7-inch Kindle Fire HDX at this link and the 8.9-inch model here. Amazon notes that orders for the 7-inch model will ship the week of Oct. 28, "due to popular demand." The 8.9-inch version will become available on Nov. 7, with a 4G LTE version set to arrive later, on Dec. 10.
