The Nokia Lumia 1520 has made a brief appearance on Nokia's official Tmall store in China, complete with pricing and spec details.
Nokia is holding a highly-anticipated media event on Tuesday, Oct. 22, in Abu Dhabi, where the company is widely expected to unveil its Lumia 1520 phablet and Lumia 2520 tablet, among other things.
The Lumia 1520 has leaked extensively over the past few months and now the device has made an official appearance on Nokia's Chinese Tmall store, which is run by Alibaba. Engadget was the first to spot the listing and report on the matter, as the Tmall page in question has been pulled shortly after going online.
Whether the premature listing was accidental or intentional, aiming to drum up excitement, we still got what counts: an early confirmation regarding some of the phablet's rumored specs, as well as a price tag.
The Nokia Tmall store in China listed the Lumia 1520 with a 6-inch display, a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and a high-end 20.7-megapixel camera with Nokia's PureView technology. The site also listed a 4,999 yuan price for the handset, which would amount to roughly $820. The booking fee was 99 yuan.
The Lumia 1520 is expected to launch as Nokia's first phablet, as Microsoft's GDR3 update to Windows Phone 8 will finally allow for faster processors and larger displays with higher resolution.
Other rumored specs of the upcoming Nokia Windows Phone 8 phablet include 2GB of RAM, 16GB and 32GB internal storage configurations, a microSD card slot for additional memory of up to 64GB, as well as a massive 3,400 mAh battery. The aforementioned Windows Phone 8 Update 3 (GDR3) will also be on board, otherwise the higher specifications would not be supported.
The Nokia Lumia 1520 is expected to launch in the U.S. sometime in November on AT&T and Verizon Wireless. The handset may sport a $299.99 price tag on a two-year carrier agreement, but no pricing has been confirmed so far. With Nokia's press event just hours away, however, we'll soon know more straight from the source. We'll keep you updated as soon as Nokia makes its official announcement.
