A product listing on Target's website shows the new iPad Mini with Retina display with a Nov. 21 launch date.
Apple has recently announced its latest-generation tablets, the iPad Air and the iPad Mini with Retina display. While the company said that its new iPad Air would hit store shelves on Nov. 1, it was rather vague regarding the second-generation iPad Mini, saying only it is "coming in late November."
Despite an exact launch date available from Apple, MacRumors has now spotted a product listing on Target's website. The retailer will apparently have the new iPad Mini with Retina display in stock starting on Nov. 21.
In this case, there are two hypotheses: either Nov. 21 is the actual launch date for the new iPad Mini, or it's just an educated estimate of when Target expects to receive the tablet. While nothing is certain for now, it would make sense for Apple to unleash its new iPad Mini with Retina display before Thanksgiving and the whole Black Friday shopping frenzy.
The only detail raising a few questions is that Nov. 21 is a Thursday, and Apple typically releases new products on a Friday so consumers could have a whole weekend with the new iGadget.
The iPad Mini with Retina display has been eagerly-anticipated by iFans worldwide. Despite the fact that the original iPad Mini proved to be quite successful, consumers were still hoping to see a compact iPad with the high-resolution Retina display Apple is known for. The company finally delivered with the second-generation iPad Mini, but various reports suggest that low yield rates for the panels may result in limited supply.
"Apple has reportedly held back the release date for the new iPad due to manufacturing issues, and when it is released, supplies are believed to be 'ridiculously tight,'" Gigaom reported.
Such rumors of limited initial supply for the iPad Mini with Retina display may prove to be accurate, as Apple CEO Tim Cook himself acknowledged that the company is not sure at this point whether it will have enough supply for the quarter. As for the Nov. 21 launch date, take it with a grain of salt until Apple makes an official announcement.
