Nokia is reportedly working on a second Windows RT tablet codenamed "Illusionist," which is currently under development with an 8-inch display.
The company made some big announcements a few weeks ago in Abu Dhabi, where it unveiled several devices, including the Lumia 1520 Windows Phone 8 phablet and Lumia 2520 Windows RT tablet. Nevertheless, Nokia is apparently readying some more devices for this year.
Aside from the rumored Lumia 929 and Lumia 525 handsets, Nokia is reportedly working on a new Windows RT tablet codenamed Illusionist. The news comes from famous tipster @evleaks, who tweeted an enticing bit of information, but without revealing very much.
"Nokia Illusionist is going to be their second RT tablet, but in the eight-inch class," tweeted @evleaks on Monday, Nov. 4.
The tipster has so far proved to be spot-on with numerous leaks about upcoming products. For instance, @evleaks was the first one to provide a clear view of the Lumia 2520 tablet, as well as the first one to announce how the device would be called.
If @evleaks' track record so far is any indication, a new Windows RT tablet from Nokia should make its debut soon. The company may be looking to offer an affordable tablet option with the Illusionist in order to boost Windows RT adoption. The watered-down version of Windows was not exactly a hit and Windows RT devices could definitely use a sales boost.
If the Illusionist does launch as a more affordable Windows RT tablet in the 8- to 9-inch category, Nokia will likely pack a 720p HD or HD+ display rather than a 1080p full HD screen. With Microsoft's latest Windows Phone 8 Update 3 (GDR3), the upcoming Nokia Illusionist should also pack a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, likely paired with 2GB of RAM.
Evleaks' brief tweet gives little to go on, which means that the Nokia Illusionist specs and features remain a mystery for now. With the cat now out of the bag, however, more information will likely surface in the following days. Stay tuned for more details as soon as they emerge, but make sure to take all leaks, rumors and speculations with a grain of salt until the official announcement.
