The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 may get an update to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean as soon as this week, according to a new report.

Galaxy Note 2 owners have long been waiting to get a taste of the latest Jelly Bean flavor and it now seems that the update is just around the corner.

According to an exclusive report from SamMobile, one of the publication's insiders has leaked a new Android 4.3 test firmware for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, and this final build is reportedly "pretty stable." SamMobile further notes that it expects the official Android 4.3 update for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (GT-N7100) to start rolling out this week, possibly as soon as Monday, Nov. 18, based on information received from the same source.

If you don't want to wait for the official update to roll out, the updated firmware leak is available for download. SamMobile offers what it claims to be the "final" Android 4.3 firmware version for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. This final test build is reportedly identical in terms of features with the official version expected to roll out this week. This build may still have some bugs, but SamMobile says it has tested it for a few days and found it to be quite stable.

Remember, however, that if you decide to download unofficial, leaked firmware, you do so at your own risk. The build that is available for download from SamMobile is a pre-release firmware, not the official update from Samsung.

Android 4.3 Jelly Bring is expected to bring several new features and improvements to the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. The update will reportedly refresh some elements of the user interface (UI) to match the new Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4. New features will include Samsung's Knox security suite, as well as Wallet.

The new update is also expected to bring support for the Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch, as well as enhanced S Pen functionality. The allegedly final test build, however, does not include the new S Pen features such as Air Command or the enhanced S Note app found on the Galaxy Note 3. It remains unclear whether the official release from Samsung will include these features.

As always, it is advisable to wait for the official release from Samsung rather than installing pre-released firmware. Samsung has yet to provide a rollout date for the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean Galaxy Note 2 update, but we'll keep you up to date as soon as we learn more.
