Apple has just updated its online store on Tuesday, Dec. 10, to show shipping times of just 24 hours for the carrier versions of the iPhone 5S.
The new iPhone 5S flagship ran into some supply strains that delayed shipping for both the carrier-locked and the SIM-free versions of the smartphone. Apple's online store now shows 24-hour shipping for the carrier models of the iPhone 5S, in all colors and storage configurations in the U.S. Those interested in the SIM-free, unsubsidized iPhone 5S, however, will still have to wait a few days.
As of Tuesday, Dec. 10, the iPhone 5S in 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB capacities and Space Gray, Gold, and Silver color options are available to ship within 24 hours. This availability is for the AT&T, Verizon Wireless, and Sprint versions. The iPhone 5S with a T-Mobile SIM card will ship in one to three business days. The SIM-free, unlocked model, meanwhile, will ship in three to five business days.
The new 24-hour shipping times listed for the carrier-locked models of the iPhone 5S reflect a notable improvement in terms of availability, as the previous estimate was between one and three days. Compared to the general availability time since the iPhone 5S first made its debut back in September, this new availability estimate is even more impressive.
The iPhone 5S has faced some frustrating supply issues since its debut, as Apple was reportedly dealing with low yield rates for the smartphone's Touch ID fingerprint scanner. Various reports from the company's supply chain indicated that Apple had some serious difficulty in ramping up production to its usual standards, but that seems to have improved now.
With just a little over two weeks until Christmas, Apple has finally managed to properly handle iPhone 5S demand and reduce shipping times. With the new estimates, those looking to purchase an iPhone 5S this holiday season should get their desired model in due time. Moreover, Apple has also made its 12 Days of Gifts app available to U.S. customers for the first time, giving iOS users one freebie each day between Dec. 26 and Jan. 6.
