Amazon has a new deal on the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom, offering the camera smartphone for just $0.01 on new contracts or $49.99 for existing customers.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom, as the name itself suggests, is a camera-centric smartphone aimed at users who love to snap shots on the go. It is a spin-off of the Galaxy S4 flagship, but comes with slightly lower specs.
Amazon is now offering the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom for just one penny when signing a new two-year contract with the carrier, allowing for considerable savings compared to the carrier's $150 price tag for the same device on-contract. Existing AT&T customers, meanwhile, can get the Galaxy S4 Zoom on an upgrade for $49.99, which is still a good price considering the smartphone's specifications.
On the other hand, those who prefer to get their devices unlocked, without committing to a lengthy carrier agreement, would be better off making their purchase directly from AT&T. The Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom off-contract price on Amazon is $599.99, i.e. $70 higher than AT&T's asking price.
As previously mentioned, the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom doesn't sport the high-end specifications of the flagship. The camera smartphone is actually quite similar to the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, except for the 16-megapixel camera module attached to its back.
For those unfamiliar with the device, the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom features a 4.3-inch display with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels, a dual-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz, 1.5GB of RAM, and 8GB of internal storage capacity. The smartphone runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with Samsung's own TouchWiz skin on top.
The main point of attraction is the 16-megapixel rear camera, which boasts 10x optical zoom, xenon flash, a physical shutter button, and an F-stop range of 3.1-6.3. The Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom may not be as high-end as the 41-megapixel Nokia Lumia 1020, but it is the best camera smartphone currently available for as little as $0.01. As usual, the retailer is also throwing in free two-day shipping with the order. The smartphone appears as in stock at the time of writing, but interested buyers might want to take advantage of the deal while it lasts.
