LG reportedly plans to launch its recently-unveiled Gx smartphone in the UK as soon as next month, according to a new report.
The LG Gx is widely seen as the successor to the LG Optimus G Pro, which made its debut earlier this year. The Optimus G Pro never made it to the UK market, but the LG Gx might.
The new LG Gx phablet sports a similar design to the Optimus G Pro, and it also comes with nearly identical specs. The company hardly changed anything, which makes the device look more like a variant than a successor. Nonetheless, the LG Gx may be the company's new flagship phablet.
According to the press release (translated) LG issued when it announced the LG Gx, the smartphone will ship with Android Jelly Bean on board. The company did not specify which version of Jelly Bean the Gx will be running. The device will also feature LG's own UX, which will bring along various apps such as Smart Memo, Smart Day, IR Blaster, and others.
The LG Gx sports a 5.5-inch FHD IPS display, a quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage capacity, and a 3,140 mAh battery.
LG offered no specific launch date for the Gx, nor did it mention any pricing details or which markets will get the device. A new report from Recombu, however, claims that the LG Gx will make it to the UK next month. If this information proves to be accurate, other parts of Europe should get the phablet soon as well.
On the other hand, with no official confirmation from LG, it's always best to take such reports with a grain of salt. The LG Gx is very similar to the LG Optimus G Pro, and that device did not make it to the UK. LG may have changed its mind with the new Gx, but there's no guarantee at this point. We'll keep you up to date as soon as we hear something official from LG regarding the launch and availability of its new Gx phablet.
