A premium Samsung Galaxy F smartphone may reportedly make its debut at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014 in February.
Several rumors have previously claimed that Samsung is working on a premium Galaxy F smartphone lineup that would launch in 2014. A new report now claims that the first smartphone in this series might be called the Galaxy F and will launch at MWC 2014, alongside the much-rumored Samsung Galaxy S5.
The new report comes from Korean site ETNews (translated). The publication is citing industry insiders, indicating that Samsung has already made a prototype device in Europe. The report makes no mention of the smartphone's purported specifications, but the handset is expected to boast a metal body.
The report further claims that Samsung with launch both its Galaxy F and Galaxy S5 at the same time, but doesn't reveal anything regarding the difference in specs between the two purported handsets.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 has also starred in numerous rumors so far and is widely believed to come with a metal chassis. A recent rumor has also claimed that the next-generation Galaxy flagship may launch in two variants, one with a plastic design and the other with a metal body.
Samsung is well-known for bringing a slew of devices to the market in order to satisfy different needs, budgets, and preferences. Its Galaxy line is already quite extensive, and the company will definitely add more devices to its lineup this year, but it remains to be seen whether a metal-body smartphone will finally arrive.
At this point, everything is pure speculation, which means that it's all still in the rumor category for now. ETNews cites some unnamed industry insiders, not official sources, and in many cases such reports prove to be inaccurate.
Samsung is rumored to be working on several devices to showcase at MWC 2014, but the company has made no official announcement so far. Until Samsung confirms these devices or makes an official unveiling, it is advisable to take all such leaks, rumors, and speculation with a hefty grain of salt. If it does plan to launch them at MWC, we'll learn all the juicy details straight from the source as soon as next month.
