AT&T will start taking pre-orders for the LG G Flex curved display smartphone on Jan. 24, offering the handset for $299.99 on a new two-year contract.
The large LG G Flex is the first curved display smartphone to make its way to the U.S., and several carriers are jumping on board. Sprint was the first one to start taking pre-orders for the handset, followed by T-Mobile who started allowing pre-registrations, and now AT&T has announced it will soon start taking pre-orders for the LG G Flex as well.
"We're proud to offer the LG G Flex, our first smartphone with a curved screen, in the U.S. and add the device to the nation's most reliable 4G LTE network," touted Jeff Bradley, AT&T's senior vice president of devices.
"We offer smartphones and devices to fit every lifestyle. The unique design is great when using your thumbs to type a message and at the same time, delivers a great experience for video enthusiasts. Combined with AT&T's premium network, the nation's most reliable wireless service, you have an unbeatable combination of features and value."
For those unfamiliar with the device, the LG G Flex sports a massive 6-inch HD OLED display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 and a pixel density of 245 pixels per inch (ppi), a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.26GHz, Adreno 330 graphics and 2GB of RAM. The handset comes with 32GB of internal storage capacity.
Other specs of the LG G Flex include a 13-megapixel rear camera with auto focus, LED flash, and 1080p video recording capabilities, and a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, GPS, and NFC. The smartphone packs a 3,500 mAh battery and runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, but LG promised to provide an upgrade to the latest Android 4.4 KitKat soon.
Moreover, the LG G Flex also boasts a self-healing back cover, which automatically fixes small scratches and scuffs that normally occur with daily use.
The AT&T LG G Flex will go up for pre-order on Jan. 24, sporting a $299.99 price tag with a new two-year contract. The smartphone will officially go on sale online and in AT&T retail stores on Feb. 7.
