The popular LG-made Google Nexus 5 may be getting some new color options soon, according to newly-leaked information.
The Nexus 5 has received high praise for its top-notch specs and features, affordable price tag unlocked, and the much-touted Nexus experience that guarantees timely updates as soon as Google releases a new version of Android.
With the previous-generation Nexus 4, Google first launched a black model and added a white version of the handset later on. With the new Nexus 5, the company launched both white and black models at the same time, but more color choices may debut soon on the Google Play store.
The folks over at Phone Arena claim to have received a video from one of their readers, showing the Nexus 5 in no less than eight color options. Aside from the existing white and black models, the smartphone would apparently get new paint jobs in blue, green, purple, orange, red, and yellow. The video shows someone clicking on all the available color choices, with the handset changing its coat as the person clicks each color.
Other than the new paint jobs, the Nexus 5 is expected to remain unchanged in terms of specs and features. For those unfamiliar with the device, the Google Nexus 5 sports a 4.95-inch full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080, a high pixel density of 445 pixels per inch (ppi), and Corning Gorilla Glass protection for extra resistance.
Under the hood, the smartphone packs a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.26GHz, Adreno 330 graphics, and 2GB of RAM. The Nexus 5 comes with 16GB or 32GB of internal storage capacity, but has no microSD card slot for additional memory.
Other specs include an 8-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) and improved HDR+ mode, as well as a 1.3-megapixel front-facing shooter. Both cameras feature 1080p video recording capabilities. In terms of connectivity, the Nexus 5 comes with 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0 with Bluetooth LE, NFC, and GPS. The smartphone has a 2,300 mAh non-removable battery and supports wireless charging support out of the box, provided that you purchase a compatible wireless charging pad.
The Phone Arena report makes no mention of when these new color options would become available, but points out that nothing is official just yet. As always with such leaks, take everything with a grain of salt until official confirmation. In the meantime, check out the video below to see the purported Google Nexus 5 new color options.
