Just a few days ago we reported on Black Editions of the Samsung Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S4 Mini, and now Samsung has officially announced these models.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 Black Edition and Galaxy S4 Mini Black Edition recently made a brief appearance on Samsung's Russian website, which took away the element of surprise from the company's new announcement. Nonetheless, Samsung issued a press release on Friday, Feb. 7, to officially introduce its Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S4 Mini in stylish new Black Editions.
As the name suggests, the Black Editions of the two smartphones offer an elegant black color scheme, but also add the more premium faux leather back plate the company first introduced with the Galaxy Note 3.
"Both the Galaxy S4 and S4 mini Black Editions sport a high-quality leather-like textured black back cover and bezel. This distinct and refined design provides consumers with a stylish Galaxy experience," Samsung touts in its press release.
"As Samsung continues to expand on the modern Galaxy design approach, we're excited to offer Black Edition versions of our popular Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S4 mini," added Younghee, Executive Vice President of Global Marketing, IT & Mobile Division at Samsung Electronics. "These eye-catching and sophisticated models demonstrate Samsung's commitment to bring consumers new ways to express their style through their mobile device."
Samsung further added that its Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S4 Mini Black Editions come preloaded with eight dedicated wallpapers for the Home and Lock screens, as well as a number of new and exclusive ringtones. Moreover, these models will go black all the way, coming in "sleek black packaging complete with a set of black accessories including a power adapter, data cable and headphones."
Other than the darker, more stylish paint job, and the aforementioned goodies, the Samsung Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S4 Mini will remain identical to their original models in terms of specifications.
Samsung said that both its Galaxy S4 Black Edition and Galaxy S4 Mini Black Edition will launch in select markets, but has yet to provide more detailed information regarding their availability. The company did not comment on pricing either, but the Black Edition smartphones are expected to come at the same price point as the existing variants.
