Verizon Wireless may finally be ready to start offering the Google Nexus 7 (2013) tablet to its customers, according to a new report.
The ASUS-made Google Nexus 7 was one of the most highly-anticipated devices of 2013 and it is widely considered the best small-screen tablet currently available on the market.
The second-generation Nexus 7 boasts high-end specs and features, and it also comes with the much-touted Nexus experience, which guarantees timely updates as soon as Google releases a new version of Android.
When the LTE version of the Google Nexus 7 (2013) first made its debut, it was supposed to be compatible with AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon's networks. While it all worked out well with AT&T and T-Mobile, things were a bit different with Big Red.
Convinced that the Google Nexus 7 (2013) LTE would actually work on Verizon's network, many Big Red customers purchased the slate only to hit a wall when trying to activate it on the carrier's network. Verizon offered various excuses to justify this issue and appease disgruntled customers. At first the carrier said that the 2013 Nexus 7 LTE was waiting for certification. Later on, Verizon said that it was waiting for Google to roll out an OS update, which would fix the issue. Nothing changed.
Months later, it now looks like Verizon Wireless may finally be getting ready to start selling the Google Nexus 7 (2013) directly. It's a bit overdue, but many Verizon customers are still waiting for this miracle to happen.
Well-known and trusted tipster @evleaks tweeted last month that the Nexus 7 would land on Verizon's network soon. Fast-forward to present date, we now have more information suggesting an imminent Nexus 7 debut on Verizon Wireless.
First, Android Authority received an image from one of its tipsters, showing Verizon-branded screen protectors for the second-generation Nexus 7. Further boosting anticipation, Droid-Life now claims that an unnamed source has confirmed that the Google Nexus 7 (2013) is indeed headed to Verizon's network , and it may launch as soon as Feb. 13.
While neither Google nor Verizon have confirmed such plans so far, a Nexus 7 launch on Verizon's network is long overdue. Perhaps Big Red would also consider adding the Nexus 5 to its lineup?
