The Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet is expected to debut at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014 later this month, and new details have now leaked regarding the slate.
Sony will purportedly unveil several devices at MWC this month, including the much-rumored Sony Xperia Z2 smartphone (codenamed Sirius) and the Xperia Z2 Tablet.
The company has not made any official announcements in this regards so far, but new information now gives us a glimpse into what to expect from the next-generation Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet.
Well-known tipster @evleaks, who has a very good track record when it comes to outing yet-to-be-announced products and plans in the tech world, has now posted a few details regarding the specs of the purported Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet.
According to the tipster, the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet, model number SD800, will sport a 10.1-inch full HD Triluminos display with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels and pack a quad-core processor (unspecified, but likely Qualcomm Snapdragon 800) clocked at 2.3GHz, coupled with a hefty 3GB of RAM. The tablet will reportedly come with 16GB of internal storage capacity and a microSD card slot for additional memory. A large 6,000 mAh battery will keep things up and running.
The leak further claims that the upcoming Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet will have both front- and rear-facing cameras, with an 8-megapixel sensor on the rear and a 2-megapixel front shooter.
Just like the original Sony Xperia Tablet Z (pictured above), and most of Sony's latest offerings, the upcoming Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet is also expected to be both water- and dust-resistant. On the software side, the slate will reportedly rock the latest version of Google's popular mobile operating system, Android 4.4 KitKat, out of the box. In terms of design, the tablet is rumored to be both thinner and lighter than its predecessor.
While @evleaks has a very good reputation and track record, it is still advisable to take this information with a grain of salt. HTC has yet to officially announce its next-generation flagship tablet, which means that nothing is for certain until it does. With the MWC 2014 trade show rapidly approaching, however, we may soon learn all there is to know about Sony's new devices. The MWC kicks off next week in Barcelona, and we'll make sure to bring you the latest news as soon as they become available. Stay tuned.
