The star of LG's Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014 announcement may have been the new G Pro 2, but the company also unveiled the mid-range LG F70 handset, among others.
The new F70 mid-ranger from LG comes with some of LG's most popular features, and it also boasts LTE connectivity and the latest Android 4.4 KitKat on board.
"Not only does the LG F70 offer the best of LTE technology, its hardware and UX are also best-in-class," Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Mobile Communications Company, touts in the press release. "Utilizing our expertise in the field of 4G technology, we plan to strengthen our leadership in the global market."
The new LG F70 comes at the mid-range segment of the smartphone market, but it has some appealing features for its category. The smartphone sports a 4.5-inch IPS display with a WVGA resolution of 800 x 480 pixels, and under the hood it packs a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.2GHz, paired with 1GB of RAM. The handset comes with only 4GB of internal storage capacity, which is to be expected from a mid-range offering, but it does have a microSD card slot for additional memory of up to 32GB.
Other specs of the LG F70 include a 5-megapixel rear camera, a VGA front-facing shooter, and a 2,440 mAh removable battery. On the software side, the smartphone rocks Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box, and it also comes with LG's popular KnockOn feature.
In other words, the LG F70 doesn't really have any high-end specifications, but 4G LTE connectivity and the latest version of Android on a mid-range handset doesn't seem too shabby. Some neat LG features and functionality will also make the handset more appealing to budget-conscious smartphone shoppers.
LG has yet to offer any details about the smartphone's pricing and availability. Considering the mid-range specifications, however, the new LG F70 should come with a budget-friendly price tag. The smartphone is expected to hit commercial availability soon, though no exact launch date is available at this point. We'll keep you up to date as soon as we learn more, so stay tuned.
