Android 7.0 Nougat OS Released For Sony Xperia X; General Update For All Eligible Device Expected Dec. 2016

The Android Nougat release for Sony Xperia devices has included a Concept OS based on Android 7.0. The update will also include the November Android security in it. Let's discuss it further.

Japanese smartphone manufacturer Sony has started the rollout of Android 7.0 Nougat concept to Xperia X. The update is the first such release from Sony based on Nougat OS. Also, it has promised to keep fixing the bugs with new updates till the final version will be launched in general.

According to Sony, many new features have been added to this update like split-screen multitasking capabilities, improved notification panel, manual shutter speed control, manual OIS, and much more.

Also, Sony has added support for X-Reality in the phone's Album apps whereas the Xperia Transfer and Xperia Home apps have also been updated with new versions in the new update.

Apart from that, Sony has also mentioned the list of phones getting Android 7.0 Nougat update- Xperia Z3+Xperia Z4 TabletXperia Z5Xperia Z5 CompactXperia Z5 Premium, Xperia XXperia XAXperia XA Ultra, Xperia X Performance - and Xperia XZ & Xperia X Compact.

Sony hasn't given any official date when Nougat will be released to these devices. But they have smartly clarified the time and process required to release the update. We expect the updates in the last week of December.

The company further hinted that the Sony will include lots of exciting new features and functionality with new improvements with the user experience. We have seen a lot of exciting new features in the Concept 7.0 OS. Also, there will be a couple of updates based on reviews and feedbacks for the concept OS also before a general version will be released.

However there is a slightly better chance of getting the Android 7.0 updates earlier than everyone else, if you have purchased a Sony Xperia through a carrier.
