Samsung Galaxy Note 4 hype: What (we think) we know so far
Alexandra BurlacuThe Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is one of the most highly-anticipated devices of this year and it's rumored to debut at IFA 2014, so here's what we know so far.
While Samsung hasn't disclosed any official details yet regarding its next-generation flagship phablet, various recent reports have tried to paint a picture of what to expect, and rumored specifications sound quite exciting.
The current Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is a powerhouse with top-notch specs and features, and its successor is expected to be even more impressive. Samsung is expected to unveil a number of new devices at the IFA 2014 trade show, which takes place in September, and the Galaxy Note 4 will most likely be one of the stars of the show.
Based on rumors so far, the next-generation flagship phablet from Samsung will sport a QHD display with a high-resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, and will likely pack Qualcomm's latest quad-core processor under the hood. More specifically, the phablet is expected to boast a Snapdragon 805 chipset clocked at 2.5GHz and paired with at least 3GB of RAM. The current Galaxy Note 3 already packs 3GB of RAM, so Samsung may choose to bump it up to 4GB with the Galaxy Note 4.
In terms of display size, Slashgear reported back in April that the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 may actually have a smaller display than its predecessor. The current Galaxy Note 3 features a 5.7-inch screen, but the Galaxy Note 4 may reportedly have a 5.5- or 5.6-inch display.
Other rumored specs of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 include 32GB and 64GB internal storage configurations, as well as a microSD card slot for additional memory. The phablet may also feature the same cameras as the Galaxy S5 smartphone, i.e. a 16-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front shooter. Of course, the phablet will also feature the much-touted S Pen functionalty, as it will launch as part of the Galaxy Note line.
The next-generation Galaxy Note 4 should also rock the very latest version of Android. For now, this means Android 4.4 KitKat, but Google could also release a new version in the meantime.
No other details are currently available regarding the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, and all of the aforementioned specifications are based purely on speculation at this point. As always in such cases, take everything with a grain of salt until an official announcement. We'll make sure to keep you up to date as soon as we learn more, so stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
