Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini turns up in GFXBench database with detailed specs
Alexandra BurlacuThe yet-to-be-announced Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini has turned up in the GFXBench database, offering details on some of its specs and features.
Samsung has so far launched its Galaxy S5 flagship, as well as a camera-centric variant called the Galaxy K Zoom. The company is expected to launch more spinoffs of its flagship, just like it did last year.
After we saw the purported Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime leaking online and showing off its alleged metal body, we now have some information regarding the smaller version of the flagship, expected to come with model number SM-G800H.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini will reportedly come in two different versions, one with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor under the hood, and the other with a higher-end Snapdragon 800. The model listed in the GFXBench database is the one with the Snapdragon 400 processor, clocked at 1.4GHz.
The device is listed with Adreno 305 graphics, 1.5 (1.3) GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage capacity (12GB available to the user), and a microSD card slot for additional memory. The more intriguing part is that it appears to have a 4.8-inch HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. At 4.8 inches, the smartphone is quite far from being a "Mini." The Galaxy S4 Mini came with a 4.3-inch display, and a jump all the way to 4.8 inches is rather odd, especially for the device that should be more compact.
Other specs of the purported Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini include an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front shooter, and the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system out of the box, with Samsung's own TouchWiz user interface on top.
As GforGames further notes, the device is also expected to boast the same water and dust-proof certification as the standard Samsung Galaxy S5.
Both the Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini and the Galaxy S5 Prime are rumored to make their debut early next month, which means that they may hit commercial availability sometime in the second half of June. Samsung is also expected to launch a more rugged Samsung Galaxy S5 Active version as well, but it remains unclear when this model will arrive.
As always, keep in mind that until Samsung makes it official, it is highly advisable to take everything with a grain of salt.
