Moto X two-week trial for $0.01 already sold out
Alexandra BurlacuMotorola has kicked off another aggressive promotion, allowing interested customers to try out a custom-made Moto X for two weeks, for just one cent, and it's already sold out.
In addition to allowing interested fans to try out a customized Moto X for two weeks, paying just one $0.01, Motorola has also added the much-rumored 64B model for storage-hungry users.
The company announced this new deal a few days ago, and the promotion now seems to be already over just hours after it went live. The deal was good for one day only, running on Monday, June 9, while supplies last. As it turns out, supplies didn't last for very long.
The one-day deal implied a quite simple and straightforward process. All users had to do was head over to the Moto Maker website and start designing their very own, personalized Moto X, then make a deposit of $0.01 to enter the two-week trial. If you made it before the promotion ran out of available units, Motorola will send the device you designed and you get the chance to try it before making a purchase. If you decide you love it and want to keep it, Motorola will charge the credit card you used for the $0.01 deposit. If, on the other hand, the two-week trial left you unimpressed and you wish to return the Moto X, just send the smartphone back using the printable return label - no other charges, no questions asked.
As for the internal storage configuration, Moto X customers now have three options to choose from. In addition to the 16GB and 32GB models that were already available, Motorola has also officially launched a higher-capacity Moto X with 64GB of internal storage capacity. This model comes with a $449.99 price tag, i.e. just $50 higher than the 32GB model.
This new promotion aimed to make it very hard to say no to the Moto X, and it was indeed very appealing. Just one cent for a two-week trial, with no contract and no commitment? Sounds great, and it's no big surprise that it sold out in no time. If you're among the lucky users who managed to enter the trial before all allotted units vanished, congratulations. If not, at least now you can still opt for the higher-capacity 64GB Moto X, which is set to arrive on June 18.
