LG G3 to hit all major carriers in Canada on Aug. 1
Alexandra BurlacuThe new LG G3 powerhouse is ready to hit all major carriers in Canada early next month, making its official debut on Aug. 1.
LG took the wraps off its latest flagship smartphone in late May, and the handset launched first in LG's home country of South Korea on May 28. The company said at the time that the LG G3 was set to roll out worldwide on over 170 carriers, and it now seems that Canada will get its turn next month.
The LG G3 is currently rolling out in the EMEA, and it is also set to make its U.S. debut later this month with the usual carrier subsidized prices. T-Mobile will start offering the handset on July 16, while Sprint will have it on sale two days later, on July 18, with a sweet exclusive on the gold color option. Verizon and AT&T are yet to announce their exact launch plans for the LG G3, but should offer more information shortly.
According to a new report from Android Central, the LG G3 will also be making its way up North next month, hitting Canada on Aug. 1. The smartphone will land on all major carriers in the country, including Bell, Rogers, MTS, Sasktel, and Videotron. Moreover, several retailers are also set to start selling the device on Aug. 1, including Tbooth wireless, WIRELESSWAVE, The Source, WIRELESS etc..., and WOW mobile.
As a reminder, the LG G3 boasts a much-touted 5.5-inch QHD IPS display with a whopping resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.5GHz, 2GB/3GB of RAM, 16GB/32GB of internal storage capacity, and microSD card support for additional memory of up to 128GB. Other specs include a 13-megapixel rear camera with laser auto focus and optical image stabilization (OIS), a 2.1-megapixel front shooter, and a 3,000 mAh battery. On the connectivity front, the smartphone supports 4G LTE, HSPA+, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, NFC, and SlimPort. In terms of software, Android 4.4.2 KitKat runs the show.
Currently no information is available regarding the price of the LG G3 when it launches in Canada, but the smartphone should retail for roughly $599 unlocked and contract-free. It remains to be seen, however, how much it will cost with carrier subsidies. With the launch less than one month away, more information should surface shortly. We'll keep you up to date as soon as we have more details, so stay tuned.
