iPhone 6 launch delays expected for both 4.7- and 5.5-inch models
Alexandra BurlacuBoth the 4.7- and the 5.5-inch models of the upcoming iPhone 6 may face launch delays due to some manufacturing issues, according to a new report.
Various rumors recently suggested that the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 would see a delayed release over some issues, but the 4.7-inch model was reportedly on track to launch in September. A new report, however, now paints a different picture, claiming that both iPhone 6 models will face delays.
Apple is reportedly experiencing some issues with manufacturing the touch screen and cases for the devices, claims KGI Securities, as reported by Liberty Times Net (via GforGames).
More specifically, KGI Securities analyst Kuo Ming-Ji believes that both the 4.7- and the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 models may face delays over the aforementioned issues, as Apple might be forced to push back the launch until it overcomes the hurdles.
This is not the first time that issues regarding the touchscreen and chassis for the iPhone 6 are rumored. Apple's supply chain may have failed to properly resolve the issues when they first emerged a few months ago, thus resulting in a delayed launch for the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 as well.
Nothing is officially confirmed at this point, but the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 was widely expected to make its debut this September. Various rumors suggested that the 5.5-inch model will arrive later either because it faced production issues, or because Apple wants to avoid competition between its two iPhone 6 models.
The next-generation iPhone 6 smartphones are expected to pack faster Apple A8 64-bit processors, enhanced Touch ID fingerprint readers, and rock the company's latest iOS 8 with all of its new features and enhancements. Moreover, rumors also suggested that the iPhone 6 may finally support NFC, as well as wireless charging and more neat features.
With nothing official so far, however, it's tough to determine which reports are accurate and which are pure fantasy. It all remains in the rumor state until further notice, so take all leaks, rumors and reports accordingly. We'll make sure to keep you up to date as soon as more information becomes available regarding the highly-anticipated iPhone 6, so stay tuned.
