Apple to unveil iWatch alongside iPhone 6 on Sept. 9?
Alexandra BurlacuThe much-rumored iWatch might make its debut in September, launching alongside the next-generation iPhone 6, according to a new report.
Rumors of a smart wearable device from Apple have been making rounds for what seems like ages, yet no palpable evidence of its existence has surfaced so far. Nevertheless, the rumor mill keeps churning in anticipation and a new report now claims that Apple's Sept. 9 event will not only mark the iPhone 6's unveiling, but also the debut of the iWatch.
The news comes from Re/Code, which was among the first to claim that Apple would unveil its next-generation iPhone on Sept. 9. The publication also previously said that Apple's upcoming wearable device, unofficially dubbed the iWatch, would debut in October, but has now changed its expectations.
"Remember back in June when I said Apple hoped to schedule a special event in October to show off a new wearable device? Remember how I also said this: 'Could things change between now and fall? That's certainly possible.' Turns out that was a prescient hedge, because things have changes. Apple now plans to unveil a new wearable alongside the two next-generation iPhones we told you the company would debut on September 9," Re/Code's John Paczkowski now reports.
The publication doesn't make any mention of the source of its information, but seems quite certain that Apple will unveil both iPhones and its new wearable at the same event on Sept. 9.
With nothing officially confirmed, however, it's all still in the rumor state for now, and it remains to be seen just what the upcoming wearable device from Apple will have to bring to the table. The gadget will most likely make use of iOS 8's neat HealthKit functionality, but its specs are still uncertain.
As always with leaks, rumors, and reports of unconfirmed devices, it is highly advisable to take everything with a grain of salt. If Apple does indeed plan to make it official on Sept. 9, we'll know all there is to know about the new iOS wearable soon enough. We'll keep you up to date as soon as more details become available, so stay tuned.
