Apple to launch 12-inch MacBook Air in mid-2015 with iPhone color options?
Alexandra BurlacuApple is reportedly working on a 12-inch MacBook Air to launch in mid-2015, and this model will apparently borrow the iPhone's color options.
The current MacBook Air lineup consists of 11- and 13-inch models, which means that this purported 12-inch device would fit perfectly in between. The company has been rumored for quite some time to be working on such a variant, but nothing materialized so far.
Previous rumors have indicated that Apple's upcoming 12-inch MacBook Air will boast an ultra-slim form factor, a Retina display, a fanless design, and a buttonless trackpad. Several sources have made the same claims over the past year, suggesting that there may be some truth to these rumors.
Earlier reports have also indicated that this 12-inch MacBook Air would make its debut in mid-2014, but that obviously did not happen. On the other hand, the device's launch was reportedly pushed back over Intel's continued delays with its next-generation Broadwell chips.
A new report from A Tech Website now claims that the purported 12-inch MacBook Air is still in the works, and Apple is reportedly gunning for a mid-2015 release now. More intriguingly, the publication also notes that the upcoming MacBook Air model will come in the same colors as the iPhone lineup.
"The most fascinating part of this report is that Apple is also planning to change the colours for the first time with an Aluminium MacBook, the source says that Apple is planning to add Space Grey and Gold colours to their MacBook lineup, which should be consistent with the colours on the iPhone 6."
While the gold color option has proved to be very popular with iPhones and other smartphones, it seems quite odd for a laptop. Nevertheless, MacRumors also claims the report may be accurate.
"MacRumors has reason to believe this information is correct and that Apple has at least considered launching the 12" notebook with several different 'special edition' color options," notes the publication.
It's all in the rumor state for now, however, so make sure to take all of these claims and reports with a hefty grain of salt. We'll make sure to keep you up to date as soon as more information becomes available, so stay tuned.
